Larry Strickland - Director of Log Aquisitions

Larry became an Oregonian in the 5th grade, when he moved from San Diego to Cottage Grove. One of seven siblings, he was interested in horses, motorcycles, and sports. By his early teens he was buying and selling Shetland ponies, and then he started breaking horses for $10 per head. It wasn’t a big moneymaker for Larry, but he had a lot of fun. His interest in motorbikes evolved years later into a love of hotrods – Larry has owned a 55 pickup, a 56 Chevy, Corvettes, and a couple of 68 Cameros, to name a few. He still likes rebuilding motors and will get calls when family and friends need a shade tree mechanic.

In 1971 Larry started at Bohemia, where he worked setting chokers on logging crew. Other work opportunities included night shift balloon logging crew (when it was 4 lights hung from a balloon and headlamps on hardhats); running the yarder, shovel and cat; and driving and dispatching log trucks.
